Genre: Music Video Examples

The Music Video Genre: Conventions
This video follows the conventions of a normal music video. This is because it focuses on the main vocalist, also it is a narrative video. I chose this video also because it is an indie rock band, so it relates to the type of music we are going to use (subgenre of music video.) The artist's clothing matches the type of music genre as in typical jeans and tee-shirt.

The music video contains many different camera shots, for example the video uses close ups to show the viewer who the main vocalist is. But it also contains long shots so that it includes all the band members this also shows the bands identity to the viewers.

This video is a narrative video therefore there is a lot of cross cut editing. Throughout the video it cuts between the main vocalist telling a story, to him being young again running and fooling around. This fits in to the lyrics of the song, because in the chorus it say's your not nineteen forever.

This is a long shot showing all the band, this is often used in music videos to allow the audience to create a bond with its members.

This is one of the close ups of the main vocalist. This shows him in more detail, and allows the audience to see his clothing so they can emulate their icon, and also allows them to create a relationship with the star.

This is a example of the video using cross cut editing to keep the viewer interested and make them want to watch the video more than once.

This is another shot of the whole band but this time it contains the woman from the story.

Here are a few stills of the video showing the narrative
