We are required to create a poster focusing on our band image and a means of advertising the band. Outstanding posters that have been created by bands include certain information that they deem relevant. This could include tour dates and locations. Others may be used to advertise the release of a new single or album. Posters are a key way of advertising for band or solo artist. By creating posters that attract attention (good or bad) or target the certain audience the product is being aimed at, the band can widen their popularity, appeal or reputation within the industry.
This is a great example of how to distribute a poster. This poster includes a image of all three band members (wearing clothing fitting to the bands indie rock and roll appearance). They have opted to include an image to make the poster look more appealing to the eye rather than text throughout. The poster also include details such as, venue and support act names and details, pricing, dates and times and event sponsor logos. The band has also included website details so fans can quickly purchase themselves tickets. A smaller image has been used on the poster, showing the bands album cover ad information related, explaining that the album can be purchase from Itunes. This is a great way of informing the fan base, and newer fans were their material, tickets and merchandise can be purchased. When creating our poster, we wish to follow similar lines to this, including images and details suitable for our poster. This could mean that group photos, band logo and websites may also be included.
